Broadway Musical
Boise Music Week is happy to announce, our 2011 musical theatre production will be
Bye Bye Birdie-a first for Boise Music Week!
BBB, a musical comedy, with book by Michael Stewart,
Music by Charles Strouse, and Lyrics by Lee Adams.
BBB tells the story of a Rock and Roll idol, Conrad Birdie, who is about to be inducted into the army. Birdie’s agent, Albert Peterson, and his faithful secretary, Rosie Grant, concoct a last publicity scheme before Birdie’s departure: One lucky American teen-age girl will win the honor of kissing Conrad Birdie good-bye. The Contest winner is Kim MacAfee, from Sweet Apple, Ohio. Birdie’s arrival causes the small town, especially the MacAfee household, to spin out of control.
BBB is a satire done with fond affection, imagination and frivolity- a most captivating musical with appeal for audiences of young and not so young. A few musical hits: Kids. Put on a Happy Face, and A Lot of Livin’ to Do. BBB will be one of those shows enjoyed by the cast as much as the audience.
BBB will be directed by Valerie Baugh-Schlossberg.
