BMW features The Switch in Time Orchestra on Jazz Night

The Switch In Time Jazz Orchestra is a seventeen-piece big band that is known for its performances for the benefit of worthy causes and organizations, such as the Idaho Jazz Education Endowment and Congregation Ahavath Beth Israel, and has been featured at The Gene Harris Jazz Festival and previous BMW Jazz Nights.

In 2026 the All That’s Jazz! event will feature a program of vocal and instrumental jazz arrangements from the Great American Songbook. America 250 will be recognized as this great music of American composers is performed! The name of this local band, taken from a piece by the great Sammy Nestico for the Count Basie Orchestra, indicates that they focus on newer arrangements of great popular songs from the middle of the twentieth century, including several vocal arrangements as recorded by Frank Sinatra.

Boise’s favorite Mark Johnson (previously of KTVB) will be hosting this event with some great insight as to the history and significance of the wonderful music being performed. He will also lead the audience in patriotic music sing-a-longs. Swing dancers will enhance the mood of the era!

This will be a “Swingin’ Affair.”
