Music in the Park 2026
The 2026 Music in the Park Event will feature local concert and swing bands including:. the Capital City Mulligan Band, the Mulligan Swing Band, and two ensembles from the 25th Idaho Army National Guard Band. This event being performed at the new and improved Gene Harris Band Shell in the beautiful Julia Davis Park will be a great opportunity to celebrate American 250 by hearing great American music in a great setting. Long time popular DJ, Ken Bass, will host this event. Come enjoy the afternoon in beautiful downtown Boise! Bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy dinner from a local food truck!

The Capital City Mulligan Band
Originally formed as the Dunkley Music Mulligan Band in February 2010 with an advertisement in the Idaho Statesman. It started as a small community band for people who used to play instruments in school band and wanted to have a second chance — “take a Mulligan” in golf terms. The Band was organized as a community band to give adult musicians a chance to get started again playing their instruments in a band and to provide musical experiences for community audiences. It has grown to a complement of approximately 80 active members who enjoy playing at various venues in the Treasure Valley. Musicians of all levels of ability play in the group. Many had not touched their instruments for several decades before starting again with the CCMB but it is amazing how the memory of the fingerings persists. Just like riding a bicycle. Capital City Mulligan Swing Band
“Enjoy the timeless sounds of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, and other big band legends in a lively live performance this March!” The Capital City Mulligan Swing Band brings the classic sound of the big band era back to life with toe-tapping favorites from the 1930s and 1940s. Formed from members of the Capital City Mulligan Band, this swing ensemble specializes in authentic stage-band arrangements made famous by legends such as Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman and others. With bold brass, smooth saxophones, and a driving rhythm section, their music is joyful, familiar, and perfect for dancing—or simply relaxing and enjoying the memories.
The 25th Idaho Army National Guard Band
The 25th Army Band is the only military band in Idaho and plays 30 to 40 events every year, such as the 2019 Governor Inauguration and Inaugural Ball, the Idaho Steelheads professional hockey games, rodeos, parades and community events.
